  1. this tutorial is VERY helpful. i would also like to see a tutorial about how to link additional tables after the pivot table was formed. let's say you now have store 3 that needs to be added to this connection. what do you do? i figured out on my own, but not sure if it is the right way. would be nice to see how would you do.

  2. Okay so I need method one but with a twist as some data overtime wasn’t in the first few tabs but are now in the last few tabs but I still need a pivot table with all the data even if it’s zero for the months the data didn’t exist yet 😅

  3. This has been really helpful, thank you. The challenge I am facing is refreshing the data in my tables due to using a connection only. The data in the sheet(s) is from an SQL source. I possibly need to reconsider how I report on this data.

  4. Very good video. I have two tables that represents a mesh of rectangles, first table is the nodes coordinates where I have a column with the unique label for each node and columns with the coordinates (X, Y and Z). The second table is the mesh table where I have 4 nodes for each rectangle. How can I associate them?

  5. Hi, I have a question I have three Tabs in excel and I have one common column between three of them that is Product code also for the first two Tabs I have the same colum names but with different order and for the third tab I have only product common with rest of the Two Tabs. Also I am unable to create relationship between them as it say at least one product code column should be unique what method i must use for my case?

  6. why is it giving me an error on method 2 telling me that the values of the two columns are the same and need to be different between the tables?

  7. This is great, thanks Leila (I know it's an old post, but still so useful). However I have found that it doesn't work if the related table has images in cells. Then the pivot table using the data model returns the path to the image. I need images in the pivot table, so I've had to resort to using XLOOKUP and then the pivot table picks up images nicely.

But if it wasn't for the images I'd be using method 2 for sure!

  8. Thank you, thank you! I am working with three sheets of data and wanted to be able to see totals for all combined. This nailed that goal! My question though, I'm going to keep adding onto this same, amended, data each month – how do I ensure that my pivot table reflects accurately? Am I able to auto-refresh?

  9. Hello. How to correct error messages when contacting 2 tables (method 1). For example, the NDC numbers in both tables are primarily a string of numbers. But on occasion they can be a mixture of letters and numbers. This resulted in errors. I’ve tried clicking the upper left arrow and select “text”. It’s not correcting the issue. Help! Thanks

  10. Thanks for this insightful video. Is there a way to combine both methods. Meaning, to combine same sort of data from different countries or stores and then complement that with additional detail coming from a relationship with a dimension table? Thanks!

  11. Finally! I could not find a method or video that showed me how to successfully combine multiple Excel tabs that exceed the row limit when combined to create a pivot table until this one. Thank you and very well done video!

  12. I can’t tell you how useful this tutorial was as I was able to do this in a few mins whilst before that I was a little confused with the consolidation part!! Immensely useful and thank you so much for creating such useful videos!! ❤
