  1. Hi Alex, the writer and director of The Door here. I'll be around all day today if you have any questions about the movie or wanna say hi!

We shot this in 3 days in downtown Toronto, Canada. We built a practical wall extension for the kitchen twice! One was just a blank wall with some art we could hang up, and the other had THE DOOR in it, so we could shoot the effect of Kara and Felix walking through practically on location!

  2. This was AMAZING!!! Having watched my husband grieve the death of his 27 year old son (from his first marriage) in a motorcycle accident. Then myself, living through my husbands sudden death less than 4 years later, this touches upon so many emotions, dreams, and wishes that people go through during the grieving process. You literally WISH that a door to an alternate reality would appear so you could walk through it and put the shattered pieces of your life back together. I wrote a book about my journey through grief but never had it edited to self publish on Amazon. I have literally had dreams similar to your movie in which my husband reappeared like nothing ever happened. Just walked through a door and left me stunned. Well done.

  3. Actors were great, acting was great, story was great… Great short! Part of me is hoping that they simply went back in time and took their daughter from their past selves (basically inducing a time loop), but, at the same time, it seems almost as though they instead travelled through a gateway to a mirror universe (or alternate or potential future reality) and kidnapped that version of Ellie and took her back with them (or instead somehow trapped the alternate parents in their original house while assuming their places).

  4. This was absolutely fucking BRILLIANT. I've never seen anything quite like it. What amazing acting, what an awesome premise! GREAT JOB TO EVERY SINGLE PERSON INVOLVED.

  5. Loved it. Usually, short films on YT have no ending and leave us to imagine one (lazy producers). This one neatly wrapped things up.
On a side note, sure, it was night when they go to the other side, but its too dark to make things out. Would've liked to be able to see things.

  6. Unbelievably shitty acting and story. Who talks and acts like this? A new door in a house they spent years in appears out of nowhere and they aren’t completely petrified with fear. Doors take tons of work to install and make a ton of debris and this effeminate beta male is focused on her painting

  7. Really good short! I was pleased to see the husband believe the wife and it didn't take THAT long for him to do so. I wonder…

Did he participate in taking their child again, or was it all the wife? Huh.

  8. The thought of doors that I don’t know about appearing in my house genuinely scares me. How did it get there? Who put it there? In their case seems like some sort of divine intervention. Something saw they’re daughter was gone and gave them an opportunity to get her back

  9. It feels very much like looking in a mirror between who we think we are and unable to grasp what each of us is capable of doing or thinking that we never thought we would do. You can never know yourself 100%

  10. Great cinematography. The character writing, however, doesn’t make sense. Felix is really stupid for no reason, and the police not coming because they didn’t believe her is INSANE.

  11. I didn't understand the mystery, but your film lends itself to more than one interpretation. It was very suspenseful and also thought-provoking as we can try to figure out what actually is happening.
At the same time, we respond emotionally to this family's grief. Your film is masterful and I predict great success in your future. The actors played their parts very well.

  12. Very well done. Both actors (especially the mother; she almost had me in tears at one point, lol) did a great job as well. Thank you!👍
