Hello lovely viewers!
Thank you so much for watching The Auteur on Alter! I'm Bethany, the director – this was my first short as director and I learnt a huge amount and had so much fun! We shot around the National Film and Television School in Beaconsfield, England, while I was on a trainee scheme linked with the school. We pulled a TON of favours and shot over a weekend – mostly nights, and mostly out in the cold! The cast and crew were absolute troopers, and I want to give them a special shoutout and thank you because this really wouldn't have been possible without them.
But at the end of the day, I'm always interested to see how you read it as the audience. What moments were your favourite, or took you by surprise? Did anything not make sense? What does the film say to you?
I can't wait to hear what you think, especially as I'm working on scripts for my next short as you read this!

Great visuals, strong acting, very enjoyable and fresh take on the premise of a character coming off the page and into real life. A nice retro vibe at the beginning with the title font right out of the early 60's, might have been cool to throw in a cryptic Serling-esque Twilight Zone outro

OOOOOHHH WOW, I loved this film so much!!!!!!!! I was astonished to read in the pinned comment that this is your [Bethany’s] first foray into directing; everything about this short is just SO expertly done. You all communicated so much using such bare bones set & setting…..I think I could keep pulling on each dialectic thread forever. Each frame sincerely spoke a thousand words. It actually didn’t sink in that there was zero dialogue until just now , as I am writing this comment!!! I am going to be thinking and journaling about this one for a long while.
