This is truly worth watching. Those who are hesitating, please give it a try. I hope you won't be disappointed.
Let’s begin with the premise that we wrote our review before reading those of the other viewers. We recognize that our sensation is shared by many people and also that this time maybe we have been far too good and kind with our evaluation.
It was not easy at the beginning for the clean, upright and also naïve CHEN LU ZHOU to understand, handle and win over a girl as particular as HU ZHI. Severely challenged by HU ZHI's interlude with her ambiguous, cryptic, elusive and indifferent way of communicating, the poor CHEN LU ZHOU, who is not used to girls keeping him at a distance, was under the illusion that a girl who behaves like this could really be won over simply. With the frustrating feeling that she only wanted to use him, respectively that she only wanted to play with him, he suffered a lot in this love affair.
It seems that this C-Drama want to show us westerners that passion is not just hugs, kisses and physical contact, but can be also tenacity, obstinacy and persistence. In fact, their relationship seems to be characterized mainly by an intellectual attraction, with only few and very cold physical contacts such as holding hands, hugging and especially kissing. The farewell and the reunion were so cold.
Interesting that actress LIU HAU CUN refused to kiss. Did the casting-director feel good when he made his choices?
Fortunately, in the second part of this TV series, HO ZHI started to show some emotions and some warmth was seen with more intense gestures, hugs and tears closer to our western values. Perhaps the explanations given to her by the professor of architecture in episode 19 made her finally realize that life is not only about head and pride, but also about heart and emotions.
We sanctify CHEN LU ZHOU for the patience, will and especially the perseverance he showed until the end. Not only did he let himself be beguile by HO ZHI at first, but even at their reunion he had to see her unjustified behavior as a wronged and betrayed girl.
The characters were definitely extremely interesting, apart from the useless ZHU YANG QI and LI KE, whom we could have done without to be honest. HO ZHI, was really a very special, captivating and provoking girl, and we understand why CHEN LU ZHOU never gave up!! But, we think that many other men would have dumped her long before. Not all men can stand women who behave in this flat, an affective and alexithymic way.
Despite her ambiguity in communicating, praise must be given to HO ZHI who proved to be not ambiguous in Love. In fact, unlike many female characters seen in the C-Dramas, but especially in K-Dramas, where ambiguity in choosing a man is extremely pronounced (“with women who willingly keep their feet in many pairs of shoes”), HO ZHI has been very clear and consistent in this respect. No mean feat, given what we are used to seeing in Asian dramas.
The actors seemed to us to be of a not very high standard. Not bad, but certainly, as we usually say in such cases, they have to refine few details. OF course LIU HAU CUN takes most of our attention.
Does the fact that the character HO ZHI had such a strong (negative) impact on us depend on whether the actress was good or poor?
Taking only the 1st lead female character/actress in the first part of this C-Drama into consideration, we would give the low grade. But taking on consideration the positive development of the girl in the 2nd part, and respecting all other characters/actors we could a higher evaluation.

Spoiler alert: there is a lack of lip contact in this drama- just when the actors are about to kiss, the camera either zooms out to show the background or seemingly uses blocking techniques to avoid any actual kissing.
