Howdy friends, I'm Gehrig, the director, co-writer, vfx sup of MARIE.
I was far too insecure to admit to anyone, but landing on DUST was my number one goal when working on this film. Not really sure how to properly express just how stoked myself and the team are to be featured. This film took three days to film, but almost a year and a half to cut and finish VFX… so WOW is it exciting to finally have it out there 🙂
With that mind: Dear lovely viewer, truly a giant thank you for taking the time to watch our film. I'm so excited/terrified/gonna-throw-up/stoked to see what you all have to say about it.
Let me know if you have any questions, my favorite thing in the world is gushing on my teammates and talking about the filmmaking process. Be safe out there, give your friends lots of hugs, and don't be afraid to high five strangers. – G
Love the concept and mystery. As much as I want it to become a full-length film, I don't know if it's possible to explain things more while maintaining a little mystery. Explanations are good, but to a limit. Less is more sometimes.
Well done. I'd like to see this as a scifi realism series where all the hideout houses are filthy when its just the lone man but become magically clean when the superwoman wakes up.
This could be a tv series or at least a youtube series
WHAT ABOUT THE OTHER POD???
first DUST movie I'm seeing with a glimmer of hope.. Maybe times are changing for the better at last?
The electricity was still operating so that the TV (or what ever it was) worked? I am confused.
реально? такая извиняюсь, залупа …какой полный метр, акцент на визуал , и всё , остальное ноль
This was good. I'd definitely like to see how the world got this way and where they went after this happened. Some of the dialog was cliché, and Marie was oddly mean at times, but I did like it overall.
This hit me right in the heart. The loneliness in Ezekiel's fantasy conversations with Marie – especially that haunting repetition of "Did you say your morning prayers today, Zeke?" – painted such a vivid picture of isolation and guilt.
What I love most is how the story subverts expectations. You think it's about faith guiding Ezekiel to California, but it's really about two broken, lonely people finding each other in the aftermath of everything they've lost.
The contrast between Fantasy Marie (gentle, understanding) and Real Marie ("What the fuck are you?") was jarring but perfect. It strips away Ezekiel's idealization and forces both characters to deal with reality.
But that ending… Ezekiel calling his Bible "not essential" while choosing to stay with Marie – that's character growth in one simple line. He's found something more meaningful than the faith that brought him there.
Rayce Lopez and Sydney Miles had incredible chemistry for two people who barely trust each other. The "We're a we now?" question felt so real and vulnerable.
Beautiful work on exploring how connection can emerge from the most unlikely circumstances.
Oaky, liked that one. Thanks.
bro! I just started listening to Micheal Crichton's the Lost World on audiobook and they are talking about chaos theory and now, just an hour after I turn it off, i see "Chaos Theory Entertainment". So crazy! I might be in a simulation.
I hope it's not essential that he bring the Bible because he knows it by heart. The fact that she brings the picture instead in the final scene might say something about the filmmakers' attitude.
I had little understanding. The other comments were complementary.
Excellent, watch this.

Don't leave the Bible. Those are the survival scrolls.
I wish these stories would go somewhere.
In a ai future that might be possible.

I'm 65 and have loved reading and watching Science Fiction all my life, since I was a kid. This may be the most exciting short story video I've ever seen. Excellent work all around!
I'm watching this from Lancaster, Pennsylvania and he definitely looks like he's from the Amish country. Great short film!
That's it? There's nothing to it.
I grew up in Lancaster, Pennsylvania so that part was a coincidence. Otherwise there's nothing to the video.
🎉
Captivating short, with interesting characters and some great SX.
Straight CINEMA 🔥
Cool.

Polar opposites attract… just like electricity… which also attracts the aliens… ah… the forever bitter triangle of conflict.
